Abstract:
Objective To understand the status of catheter-related bloodstream infection in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU),and explore the effect of catheter record in the prevention of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) in RICU.Methods A quasi-experimental study was used in the study. The patients with the central venous catheters in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit of Grade Ⅲ hospital in Beijing were enrolled. The control group was given normal care, and the intervention group was given catheter record and other nursing intervention. The infection rate of CRBSI was compared between two groups after intervention. Results Ninety-four patients were completed date collection,43 patients were in intervention group and 51patients were in control group. The infection of CRBSI was five cases (9.8%) in the control group, and 0 case in the intervention group, and the difference was statistically significant (x2 =4.453,P < 0.05).The thousand-day-infection rate of CRBSI was 0.00 in the intervention group, and 4.36‰ in the control group. The catheter logs which were completely recorded were 31 (72%),and the catheter logs which were not completely recorded were 12 (28%).Conclusions A serious of nursing intervention measures including setting up catheter record, aseptic operation and pipeline observation and maintenance can decrease the infection rate of CRBSI.
