Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of ventilator cluster nursing in mechanically ventilated patients in Craniocerebral Department.Methods Totals of 60 cases of mechanically ventilated patients admitted during January 2010 to July 2011 in Craniocerebral Department wards were the experimental group,which received ventilator cluster nursing,including raising bed 30-45 °,prevention of peptic ulcer,trying to stop sedatives everyday,prevention of deep vein thrombosis,oral care,attraction of subglottic secretions and hand hygiene.A total of 58 cases of mechanically ventilated patients from June 2008 to December 2009 in the same department were the control group,receiving conventional methods of nursing.Incidence,duration of mechanical ventilation and mortality of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in two groups were compared.Results The incidence,duration of mechanical ventilation and mortality of VAP were respectively 40.0％,(189.7 ± 64.5) h and 25.0％ in the experimental group,72.4％,(331.3 ± 86.7) h and 51.7％ in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant (x2/t =12.571,10.089,8.928,respectively; P ＜0.05).Conclusions Ventilator cluster nursing can reduce the incidence and mortality of VAP,as well as shorten the duration of mechanical ventilation in mechanically ventilated patients in Craniocerebral Department.
