Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of health education on the medication compliance of elder people (≥80 years) with hypertensive.Methods Between January 2010 and July 2011,78 cases of cadres outpatient elderly hypenensive patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group,experimental group (n =48) received the routine care intervention on the basis of the enhancement of health education,control group (n =30) treated with conventional medication during the nursing intervention,medication compliance and prescribed circumstances were compared between the two groups after nursing intervention.Results The compliance average score were (7.67 ± 0.81) and (5.24 ± 1.08) respectively in the experimental group and the control group,and the difference was statistically significant (t =11.32,P <0.05).The rate of refrain from smoking,drinking,adequate exercise,proper diet of experimental group were significantly higher than that of control group [(77.50% vs 25.00%),(71.94% vs 18.18%),(75.76% vs30.43%),(73.17% vs 41.67%); x2 =18.414,16.154,11.368,6.348,respectively; P < 0.01)]Conclusions It is very important to strengthen health education for elderly hypertensive patients so as to improve their compliance behaviors of elderly patients,their lifestyle,medication compliance,blood pressure control.
