Abstract:
Objective To learn the parents' consciousness level to children's oral habits and its related factors.Methods Totals of 475 parents whose children attended the Department of Pediatric Dentistry School of Stomatology,Peking University were investigated with the self-designed questionnaires about the parents' education level,the status of children' s oral habits and the consciousness of oral habits of the parents and so on.Results The criterion of consciousness was that patents believed children' s oral habits would impact the teeth and needed to be treated.The result of Logistic correlation analysis showed that the education level of the parents,children having sucking and biting habits were positively correlated with parents' consciousness,and the correlation coefficients respectively were 0.432,0.553,0.474 (P ＜ 0.1).Conclusions The percentage of parents' consciousness for children' s oral habits is low,and the consciousness level is related to the education level of patents and the status of children' s oral habits.Therefore,medical staff should strengthen propaganda and education in the diagnosis and treatment processes.
