Effect of hobby group and reader's forum on nursing scientific research

Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of hobby group and reader' s forum on nursing scientific research.Methods From January 2009,hobby group and reader' s forum were held up among 56 nurses,and self-evaluation was conducted a year later,including the necessity of these activities and improvement in capacity of scientific research.The number of nurses who wrote papers,the number of papers,the number of papers being published,the number of application of research subjects and successful ones were compared before and after the training.Results 76.8% of the nurses believed it was necessary to have these activities,16.1%thought it did not matter,and 7.1% thought there was no need.Most nurses made progress in their ability of reading scientific papers,writing,scientific research design and implement (96.4%,82.1%,80.4%,and 78.6%,respectively).The number of nurses who wrote papers,the number of papers,the number of papers being published,the number of application of research subjects increased significantly after the activities [18(32.1%) v86(10.7%),22(39.3%) vs 7(12.5%),19(33.9%) vs 3(5.4%),5(8.9%)vs 0(0.0%)] (x2 =7.636,10.469,14.481,respectively; P <0.05).And papers which won subject bid successfully made a breakthrough from zero.Conclusions Hobby group and reader' s forum can effectively improve clinical nurses' research enthusiasm and ability.
