Abstract:
Objective To study the application of Q-SyteTM split septum needleless closed style transfusion connector in patients with detained central venous catheter (CVC) after surgery. Methods 112 patients using central venous catheter for transfusion were randomly divided into two groups, the observation group and the control group, each with 56 cases each.Q-SyteTM and Heparin cap were used in the observation group and the control group respectively and their effect on the back blood, obstruction, infusion tube shedding, catheter infection, pricking wound and liquid flow rate was observed and compared. Results The incidence rates of back blood, obstruction, catheter infection, infusion tube shedding were all statistically significantly lower in the observation group compared to the control group ( x2 =27.24,4.35,5.49,7.73,respectively; P < O.05 or P < 0.01 ).The incidence rate of pricking wound, nursing time and detaining duration of the connector were 0.00%,(2.2 ± 0.7) min and (7.7 ± 2.1 )d respectively,in the observation group, while those in the control group were 10.71%,(6.7 ± 1.2)min and (4.1 ± 1.8)d,respectively,and the differences were statistically significant (x2 =4.4; t =24.4,- 9.7,respectively; P < 0.05 ).Conclusions Q-SyteTM is worthy of application and popularization in clinical intravenous transfusion as it can effectively prevent the back blood in central venous catheter, reduce infection incidence rate, avoid pricking wounds, and is easy to operate.
