Abstract:
Objective To investigate the status of general self-efficacy and work burnout of nurses in high-ranking officer wards and analyze its correlation. Methods Totals of 100 nurses in high-ranking officer wards were investigated with General Self-efficacy Scale(GSES) and Maslach Job Burnout scale between October 2010 and June 2011.Results The general self-efficacy score of high-ranking officer wards nurses was lower than that of the norm [ (2.63 ± 0.46) vs (2.95 ± 0.53)],and the difference was statistically significant (t=-4.994;P < 0.01). Among the work burnout score of high-ranking officer wards nurses, the individual achievement sense and depersonalization score were lower than that of the sample of Maslach [ (32.48 ± 9.55)vs (36.53 ±7.34),(5.38 ±6.58) vs (7.12 ±5.22) ],and the difference was statistically significant- (t =- 4.239,- 2.646 ;P < 0.01).Correlation analysis showed that general self-efficacy was positively with the individual achievement sense (r =0.409,P < 0.01).Conclusions General self-efficacy of nurses in highranking official wards should be improved.Improving nurses' general self-efficacy can improve their individual achievement sense,on some extent, and can reduce their work burnout.
