Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of standard catheter management to prevent the PICC occlusion in premature infants. Methods After May 2009,PICC nursing teams were organized and trained on improving the methods of flushing and sealing the catheter and the occlusion rates before and after intervention was analyzed. Results The study outcome showed a significant reduction in the catheter occlusion rate, from 13.85% to 2.94%,and the difference was statistically sighificant ( x2 =5.209,P < 0.05 ).Conclusions Standard catheter management has remarkable effect in preventing PICC occlusion in premature infants.
