Abstract:
Objective To understand the problems on self-management in patients with asthma and the demand for medical care services,and to explore the contents and methods of health care services for patients in order to provide the basis for the family-centered care by a qualitative research.Methods 17 hospitalized patients with asthma were interviewed with on-site recording and transcription and data collection.The collected data were analyzed and studied using Colaizzi' s seven-step method of phenomenological analysis.Results The problems of self-management and the needs for family health services were shown as follows: insufficient knowledge of asthma,irregular treatments,lack of proper understanding of hormone therapy,needs of asthma knowledge in prevention and cure,needs to maintain communication with the staff.Conclusions Medical staff should always provide the instruction and guidance about the asthma knowledge to patients and also provide targeted and operational family care knowledge and skills training.
