Abstract:
Objective To explore effects of mental intervention on the mental health of the middle-aged female patients with brain tumors after operation with the symptom chechlist-90 (SCL-90), and then provide the theoretical instruction for improving their life quality after operation. Methods The 80 meddle-aged female patients with brain tumors were randomly assigned to two groups including experimented group and controlled group.Subjects in experimented group must received mental intervention during the time of 2 days before operation, and 3 -5 days after operation. Both were evaluated with SCL-90 3 months after operation. Results There were no differences in age, education background and malignance of the tumors. The total scores of meddle-aged female patients with brain tumors 3 months in experimented group after operation were lower than controlled groups [(165 ±51 ) vs (185 ±48), F =12. 97, P < 0. 05], the positive items number of them was less than that in control group[(39 ± 14) vs (46 ± 19), F =12. 97, P >0. 05]. Besides, the factors of SCL-90 except paranoid ideation, sensitive relationship with people and psychotic, were significantly less than those in the controlled group. Those factors were the most significantly lower than controlled group such as anxiety, paranoiac, somatization, and hostility so on. Conclusions Mental intervention can improve the mental states of the meddleaged female patients with brain tumors after operation. Thus it is necessary to implement mental therapy after operation to improve the life quality of patients.
