Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effects of establishing the full time health education nurses in the department of gynaecology and obstetrics. Methods 797 patients who were admitted in our hospital from September to November in 2010 were separated into the treatment group. These patients were educated by usual health care nurses, besides that, these cases were systematically taken care of by the full time health education nurses. 805 patients who were admitted in our hospital from June to August in 2010 were separated into the control group, they were taken care of by routine nurses as usual. Patients' degree of satisfaction, doctors'degree of satisfaction with nursing work, incidence of patients' complaints and amount of medical disputes were compared between the two groups. Results There were statistically significant differences in patients' degree of satisfaction, incidence of patients' complaints and amount of medical disputes between the two groups ( U =2.02,289.4;P <0. 05), but there was no significantly different in the doctors' degree of satisfaction with nursing work ( U =1.54, P > 0. 05 ). Conclusions It is very helpful to establish full time health educationnurses in the department of gynaecology and obstetrics, which can intervene patients' mental illness in the early stage, efficiently mitigate medical disputes between doctors and patients, improve the degree of patients'satisfaction, barmonize relationships of doctors and patients to some degree, and expand the disciplinary horizonin nursing and develop nurses' vocational planning.
