Abstract: Objective To translate and test the reliability and validity of JSE-HP (the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Heahh Professionals) ( Nursing student edition ). MethodsOriginal edition of JSE-HP was translated, back translated, first tested and pre-surveyed by cross-cultural adaptation process. 229 practical nursing students from six advanced nursing schools coming from five places in China were surveyed after formal Chinese edition was formed, and reliability and validity of the scale was tested. Results Cronbach' s α of the scale was 0.836, split-half reliability was 0. 830, cumulative contribution rate was 48. 196％ after three conunon factors was extracted, Cronbach' s α of three dimensions were 0. 866, O. 767 and 0. 705 respectively.Relationship between the dimensions and total score was in 0. 613 -0. 872, and relationship among all the dimensions were in 0. 346 -0. 546. Conclusions JSE-HP ( Chinese edition) ( Nursing student edition) had a good reliability and validity, and could be used as an effective assessing tooh in nursing students in our country.
