Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the influence of nursing intervention on the self-care of patients with high risks of diabetic foot. Methods Among 60 diabetic patients who have risks of indeed getting diabetic foot. Those risks include peripheral vascular disease and neuropathy, we gave them self-care ability education and nursing intervention. Each patient was given personal self-nursing education. Those patients were followed for 6 months, and were instructed with everyday foot nursing, and self-monitoring management, etc. A year later, we investigated the self-management capability of those patients, and came out with the statistical data of those who go hospital again or catch diabetic foot. Results Before the education, only 16.6% patients can recognize the risks of diabetic foot, 15% patients nurse the feet by themselves daily, 13.3% patients grasp the methods to discern and process the normal foot problems in all 60 patients. After nursing intervention, 84.3% patients can recognize the risks of diabetic foot, 85% patients nurse the feet by themselves daily, 86.6% patients grasp the methods to discern and process the normal foot problems. Diabetic patients with high risks got more nursing knowledge and self-nursing ability after nursing intervention. (t =22. 71,-19.90;P <0. 05). 0nly one sample caught diabetic foot. Conclusions Nursing invention can promote the serf-care ability d patients. It has an important role in controlling the diabetic foot risk factors and preventing disease.
