Abstract:
Objective This research takes the IMB model (Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model) as the theoretical basis for intervention measures, aimed at enhancing the self-care level of patients, in order to control the blood sugar and complication occurrence. Methods One hundred patients diagnosed as type Ⅱ diabetes are stochastically selected as subjects of the study, 50 are as the contrast group, another 50 as the experimental group. The conventional treatment is implemented to the contrast group, while the experimental group receives, besides the conventional treatment, an additional auxiliary treatment by the IMB model intervention measures. Observation is given to the difference between the levels of self-care behaviors of the two groups and the average time (days) difference of their fasting plasma glucose level approaching the normal standards-3.9 to 6.0 mmol/L (70 to 108 mg/dL) before they are discharged from the hospital; When being discharged from the hospital, patients of the two groups are informed to return for reexamination after three months. Continual observation is given to the difference of their self-care behavioral levels and their blood sugar levels. Results Reexamination content includes self-potency grading, fasting plasma glucose. Software SPSS Ttest is applied for the comparison between the two groups' items, P < 0. 05, indicating statistic significance of the difference. Conclusions In the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model, overall evaluation is given to the behavioral factors in transformation, emphasizing the influence of behavior skills on the behavioral change, urging the patients to perform good self-care behavior, and providing a new way for type Ⅱ diabetic treatment and recovery.
