Nursing intervention influences on life quality of colostomy patients

Abstract: Objective To discuss the quality of live of the patients with Miles operation for rectal cancer,minimize the negative impact of colostomy on their life by a series of nursing interventions. Methods 134 patients with Miles operation for rectal cancer were collected and experienced a series of nursing intervention, the WHO quality of life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) was used to evaluate the data, the difference of the patients with Miles operation and the patients with Dixon operation were compared. Results The total score of the patients with Dixon operation was (77.506 ± 17. 197), the total score of the patients with Miles operation was(76. 701 ± 15. 138).Both in total score, the field of physiology, psychology, social relationship, erwiornment and general health perception were no significant difference (P ＞ 0. 05). Conclusions The quality of life of patients with Miles operation and with Dixon operation was overall not high. But there was no significant difference between them.Many factors can affect the quality of life of patients with colostomy, so we should strengthen the nursing intervention and get support of society and families.
