Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of breast self-examination (BSE) in diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer. Methods Randomized controlled trials and controlled clinical trials on effectiveness of BSE were searched. Qualified studies were enrolled and RevMan5.0 was used to perform data analysis. Results Meta analysis results suggested that: compared with no breast self-examination, BSE had a statistically significant benefit in improving breast biopsy rate and detection rate of benign lesions, while no benefit in breast cancer mortality. Conclusions BSE plays an auxiliary role in the early diagnosis of breast cancer, while little benefit in the prognosis of patients.
