Abstract:
Objective To test whether the mean artery BP of femoral artery and radial artery in shock patients can be interchangeable and explore the effects of vasoactive drugs on monitoring. Methods A prospective study was conducted among 67 patients with shock who had the indication of invasive BP monitoring. The 67 patients were divided into two groups randomly: high-dose vasoactive drug group ( Group H ) and lowdose vasoactive drug group ( Group L). The invasive BPs of femoral artery and radial artery were then monitored and recorded. Results The mean artery BP of radial artery was ( 3 ± 4) mm Hg higher than that of femoral artery, and there was no statistical difference between Group H and Group L ( P > 0. 05 ). Conclusions The mean artery BP of femoral artery and radial artery in patients with shock could be interchangeable. Even for those treated with high-dose vasoactive drug, puncture of femoral artery is not necessary for them.
