Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of two different catheter insertion ways using BD Saf-T-Intima closed Ⅳ catheter on puncture achievement ratio. Methods 160 times punctured by BD Saf-T-Intima closed Ⅳ catheter were randomly divided into 2 groups (80 cases respectively for A and B) for prospective studies. Each group was received different catheter insertion ways respectively. Group A received traditional way: the stylet was removed 0.5cm when blood flowing back into the catheter. After the stylet/catheter unit were advanced into the vein completely, the stylet was removed from the catheter. For group B, the stylet/catheter unit was advanced into the vein 0.1 ~0.2 cm further when blood flowing back into the catheter. After the stylet was removed completely, the plastic catheter was advanced into the vein. Results Achievement ratios for each group were 77.5% and 92.5%, success rate of group B is obviously higher than group A (P < 0.01).Conclusions Adopting the catheter insertion method in group B can improve the puncture achievement ratio in acute leukemia patients with chemotherapy.
