Abstract:
Objective To explore the best way of venous sampling for infants in order to improve onetime success rate and to reduce complications. Methods 151 infants were reviewed retrospectively who saw a doctor in clinic from March 2009 to March 2010, and patients were 4 days to 2 years old. They were divided into 3 groups randomly, and different method of venous sampling was applied to each group, then the one-time success rate and complication rate of three groups were compared. Results The method of femoral vein pit diagonal stabbing had a higher one-time success rate than the other two methods. however, the diffenences of success rates in three groups were not statistically significant (x2 = 3.02, P > 0. 05). Conclusions Femoral vein pit diagonal stabbing method has several advantages, for instence, the position is easy to find, the method is fit for all infants,no matter fat or thin, it has a higher one-time success rate but lower complication rate, and so on. So this method is worthy spreading.
