Social support status and nursing in rural type 2 diabetes patients

Abstract: Objective To find out the social support status in rural type 2 diabetes patients, to provide strong evidence for getting extensive social support from different directions. Methods To investigate 222 rural type 2 diabetes patients by convenience sampling and score through social support rating scale designed by Xiao Shui-yuan. Results The score of rural type 2 diabetes patient (41. 10 ± 5. 53) was lower than national norm (44. 34 ±8.38) ,the difference was statistically significant(P <0. 01 ) ; The objective support score, subjective support score, utilization of social support were lower than national norm(P <0. 01) ; Social support level was effected by marital status most. Occupation, per capita monthly household income, education background were in turn. The differences were statistically significant ( P < 0. 05; P < 0. 01). Conclusions The social support level of rural type 2 diabetes patient was relatively lower. There was important meaning of social support to prevent individual disease and promote recovery.
