Effect of health behavior training based on Roy adaptation model on the patients with depression

Abstract:
Objective To explore the Roy adaptation model and health behavior training on the effect of depression. Methods Ninty patients were randomly divided into research group ( n = 45) and control group (n=45). The research group participated in Roy adaptation model and health behavior training for 8 weeks. The control group received conventional treatment and care. Two group were compare with Zung'S self-rating depression scale ( SDS), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (24 items, HAMD) , Simple Coping Style Questionnaire ( SCSQ) and the WHOQOL-BREF scores. Results After nursing intervention with Roy adaptation model,the SDS,HAMD scores of intervention group were lower than that of control group in 8-week (P <0. 01) , the SCSQ scores (positive) of intervention group were higher than that of control group, while the negative score of intervention group were lower than that of control group in 8-week, and the WHOQOL-BREF scores of intervention group were higher than control group ( P < 0. 05 ). No significant difference in the environmental field ( P > 0. 05). Conclusions Application Roy adaptation and health behavior training model in depressed inpatients can improve the quality of life and improve the coping style.
