Abstract:
Objective To explore preoperative anxiety among parents of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and its influencing factors in order to provide evidence to health education and nursing care. Methods A total of 144 parents of children with CHD were investigated by using STAI and self-designed influencing factors questionnaire and their SAI scores and TAJ scores were observed. Results The SAI scores of these parents were obviously higher than national norm. Mothers from 20 to 30 years old had the highest score of SAI. There was a negative correlation between mothers' SAI scores and their ages but there were no significant differences in SAI scores of parents with different educational background and different occupations. Conclusions The parents of children with CHD are suffered from anxiety. Nurses should comprehensively assess the background information and other influencing factors and provide preoperative nursing measure for parents of children with CHD.
