Abstract:
Objective To describe exercise self-efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes and to examine the relationship between exercise serf-efficacy and physical exercise. Methods A convenience sample of 117 patients with type 2 diabetes was interviewed, using Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale and Leisure Time Physical Activity Questionnaire(LPAQ). Results The average score of exercise self-efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes was (52.42 ± 18.30) (a range of average score is 0 ~ 100). There was significantly positive relationship between exercise self-efficacy and the time of physical exercise (r =0. 415, P <0. 01) ; there was significantly positive relationship between exercise serf-efficacy and the energy expenditure of physical exercise (r = 0. 452, P < 0. 01). Conclusions Patients with type 2 diabetes had moderate level of exercise selfefficacy. The higher the patients' exercise self-efficacy, the more the time of physical exercise, the more the energy expenditure of physical exercise.
