Clinical study of 761 cases' pupils transformation period after mydriasis

Abstract: Objective We executed routine mydriasis on 761 cases pre-examine and pre-operate, and recorded the mydriasis time including the resistant time after mydriasis. In this way, we can guide our nurses to handle the mydriasis time accurately and to keep puiple at the optimal dilate state during examing and operating. Methods A total af761 cases were executed mydriasis with Compound Tropicamide. The pupil diameters were measured after using the mydriatie 10 minutes, 20 minutes , 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 minutes and 60 minutes respectively. All the data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 software. Results The pupil diameter showed statistic difference(P <0. 01 ) between the post 10 minutes and post 20 minutes group,between the post 20 minutes and post 30 minutes group and between the post 30 minutes and post 40 minutes groups, while among those post 40 minutes, post 50 minutes and post 60 minutes group, there were no statistic difference (P> 0. 05). Conclusions 40 minutes after mydriasis, the puiple will be at the stable dilate state. So 40 minutes will be the optimal mydriasis time before operation.
