Abstract:
Objective To study the practice nursing students' knowledge about AIDS and the influencing factors, and to provide the convincing evidences and suggestions for pertinently developing HIV health education. Methods 544 practice nursing students were investigated with a serf-administered questionnaire by a duster sampling method. These students were selected with the class-based unit. The survey was conducted in the aspects of cognition of HIV/AIDS and attitude toward HIV/AIDS using an independent blank mode. Results The level of practice nursing students' knowledge of HIV/AIDS was moderate (9.49± 3.16). 81.40% of them considered HIV could transmit by sexual intercourse. The knowledge about the high risk behavior and the function of condom was poor, accounting for 42.28%. The practice nursing students' attitude towards HIV/AIDS was moderate (172. 11±14. 37). Multiple Variable Linear Regression analysis showed the influencing factors of the level of awareness on HIV/AIDS knowledge and the level of attitude towards HIV/AIDS were education level, nationality and scores of knowledge on HIV/AIDS. Conclusions The practice nursing students' knowledge and attitude toward HIV/AIDS need to be improved. AIDS education for practice nursing students should not only focus on the improvement of knowledge, it is also important to give intervention to their attitude and high risky behaviors.
