Effects of nursing intervention on depression patients and their family members

Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of nursing intervention on the depression patients and their members. Methods 116 depression patients were randomly divided into two groups, the study group ( n = 59) and the control group (n = 57 ). 59 family members of the study group were selected. Patients of the two groups all accepted the routine therapy and nursing intervention. At the same time, the family members of the study group accepted the family nursing intervention once a week, and the intervention continued for 8 weeks. The curative effects of patients were evaluated by HAMD ( Hamilton Depression Rating Scale) and SDS, and the psychological state of family members were examined by SCL-90 (Symptom Checklist 90). Results Through 8 weeks of nursing intervention, scores of HAMD and SDS of the study group were (13.74±6.34)and (3.82±1.24), respectively, showing a statistical meaning compared to the control group (P <0.05). The scores of somatization, depression and anxiety in SCL-90 were significantly improved in the family members of depression patients in the study group. Conclusions Implementing nursing intervention among the depression patients and their family members can improve the curative effect, facilitate the rehabilitation, and ameliorate the psychological health of family members.
