Abstract:
Objective To explore the state of social support and its influencing factors in patients with cancer diagnosis during chemotherapy in China. Methods 294 cancer subjects received first chemotherapy after operation were investigated with questionare, including social support scale and basic demographic form. Results The average score of social support was (46.26±6.96) , for objective social support was (12.05±3.18), subjective social support was (26.57±4.07) and utilization of social support was (7.63±2.23). Income and marital status influenced the state of social support(F=30. 43, F=18.46, P<0. 001). Conclusions The results show that the most cancer patients during chemotherapy have higher level of social support, Identified affecting factors of the state of social support were income and marital status. Therefore, nurses should help patients to use social support to improve their mental health.
