Comparative analysis of different return volume on dialyzer' residual blood volume in elder patients

Abstract: Objective To study influence of dialyzer' residual blood volume by using different return methods in elder patients, with the aim of decreasing the loss of blood in each dialysis in patients as less as possible. Methods four return blood doses indicated by four different saline solution amounts were studied by a self-comparison for a same patient. The residual blood volume was measured and calculated via collecting the salt water for washing dialyzer and the difference between the groups was compared. Results The residual blood volume was the least in the return blood method of 200ml blood return amount and 250ml salt water(P <0. 01 ). The difference between the groups was statistically significant. But the infusion of salt water in 250ml group was significantly more than other groups ( P < 0. 01 ). Conclusions It is the best choice that the return blood method of using 200ml salt water during dialysis.
