Effect of different laxative drugs in senile functional constipation

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of different laxative drugs for senile patients with functional constipation.Methods A total of 160 elderly patients with functional constipation were randomly divided into four groups:group Ⅰ,group Ⅱ,group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ,with 40 patients in each group,treated with mosapride,mosapride and lactulose in combination,Bran combined with lactulose and mosapride,Bran combined with lactulose,respectively.Continuous treatment was lasted for 30 days.Defecation time,abdominal distension,endless defecation,abdominal pain,stool quality and defecation frequency,and relapse rate after drug discontinuation after treatment were analyzed.Results Before treatment,there were no significant differences in frequency of spontaneous defecation,difficulty in defecation,abdominal distension and pain,endless defecation in four groups (P ＞ 0.05).After treatment,Ⅳ group had significantly better efficacy than Ⅱ group,Ⅲ group,and Ⅰ group.The relapse rates of groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ after 30 days of treatment were 23.3％,13.4％,10.2％ and 8.4％,respectively,and effective rates were 60.00％,80.00％,82.50％ and 87.50％,respectively (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Different drugs combination therapy for elderly functional constipation patients has better therapeutic effect,safety and efficacy.
