Abstract:
With the popularity of soft tissue fillers, more and more complications have been reported. Inflammatory nodule is one of the complications that has long been considered to be an allergic reaction or response to the filler material as a foreign body. But it is attributed to bacterial biofilms infection in recent years. This paper described the nature of biofilms and the evidences that biofilms were involved in inflammatory nodules after injection, and summarized the research progress on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
