Abstract:
As a carrier protein for sex hormone transportation, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG)plays a role in human metabolic processes through a variety of ways, which leads to the abnormal expression of SHBG levels in metabolic diseases. In such metabolic diseases as metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and osteoporotic fracture, low levels of SHBG have been proved to be an independent risk factor for the occurrence of these events. But the relationship between SHBG and cardiovascular disease has not yet been concluded,so further study is required.
