Abstract:
Objective:To explore the changes of the number and functions of endothelial progenitor cell (EPC)in the peripheral blood of patients with peptic ulcer combined with type 2 diabetes.Methods:Thirty-two patients with peptic ulcer combined with type 2 diabetes (Group A),32 patients with peptic ulcer not combined with type 2 diabetes(Group B),and 32 healthy volun-teers in the same term(Group C)were selected. The number and adhension, proliferation and migration functions of EPC in each group were detected. Results:The numbers of EPC in Group A and Group B were significantly lower than that in Group C (P <0.05),and the number of EPC in group A was lower than that in Group B.The adhesion, proliferation and migration functions of EPC in Group A and B were lower than those in Group C(P <0.05),and those features in Group A were lower than those in group B.Conclusions:In patients with peptic ulcer combined with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the number of EPC decreased while the function of EPC was impaired.EPC may be involved in the occurance and development of peptic ulcer com-bined with type 2 diabetes.
