Abstract:
Objective To investigate the differences of the gap junctional communication among fibroblasts derived from pathological scars and normal skin. Methods Samples of hypertrophic scars, keloid and normal skin six, two of each, were collected. The means of cell culture was used to investigate gap junctional communication of the fibroblasts derived from these samples by adherent cell analysis and sorting interactive laser cytometer(ACAS 570). Results Fibroblasts derived from normal skin showed normal gap junction; gap junctional communication was restrained in fibroblasts derived from hypertrophic scars and the intercellular communication was completely obstructed in fibroblasts derived from keloids. Conclusion The obstruction of intercellular communication may play an important role in the pathogenesis of excessive and invasive growth of fibroblasts derived from keloid.
