Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To study the effect of Jianpihuashi Decoction combined with Chinese Herbal Medicine Qingchang-shuan on life quality of spleen-deficiency and dampness-heat type patients with ulcerative colitis(UC).METHODS 65 Patients were recruited with UC and belong to spleen-deficiency and dampness-heat type and were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group,with 32 cases in treatment group(Jianpihuashi Decoction combined with Chinese Herbal Medicine Qingchangshuan),and 33 cases in control group(Jianpihuashi Decoction).The treatment lasted for 8 weeks.The Inflammato-ry Bowel Disease Questionnaire(IBDQ),Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire(SF 36),Enteroscopy Scores and Symp-tom Scores of Traditional Chinese Medicine were recorded before and after the treatment.RESULTS The record of treatment group had better reaction than the control group in IBDQ,bowel symptoms scale (B),and general health(GH)(P <0.05). The effective rate in treatment group was 100%,which in the control group was 83.33%.And there was no statistical signifi-cance(P >0.05) between two groups.Additionally,treatment group showed better reactions than control group in individual symptom,such as stool with blood and pus,abdominal pain and rectal tenesmus and there was statistical significance between two groups(P <0.05).After the treatment,there was no statistical significance in Baron grade between two groups(P >0.05).CONCLUSION Jianpihuashi Decoction combined with Chinese Herbal Medicine Qingchangshuan can better improve the life quality of patients with ulcerative colitis(UC)and belong to spleen-deficiency and dampness-heat type than Jianpihuashi Decoction only.
