Effect of metformin combined with Diane-35 on endocrine of patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome

Abstract:
Objective To observe effect of effect of metformin combined with Diane-35 on endocrine of patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).Methods A total of 136 cases with PCOS in our hospital were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 68 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Diane-35 only, while the observation group was treated with Diane-35 and metformin.The overall effective rate, hormone indicators [luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), testosterone (TEST), estrogen (E2), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG)], and insulin resistance condition [homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), homeostasis model assessment-β (HOMA-β)] were compared before and after treatment.Results The effective rate in the observation was obviously higher than that of the control group(97.1% vs.75.0%, P<0.01).The hormone related indicators (LH, FSH, TEST, E2, SHBG) of the observation group significantly improved after treatment (P<0.01).The hormone related indexes (LH, TEST, E2) of the control group significantly improved after treatment (P<0.01), and the observation group was significantly better than the control group (P<0.01).The HOMA-IR and HOMA-β in the observation group were obviously lower than treatment before (P<0.01), and were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.01).Conclusion Metformin combined with Diane-35 can significantly improve the endocrine disorder and insulin resistance, and improve overall effective rate.
