Abstract:
Objective To investigate the changes of blood lipid in the patients with multiple myeloma (MM)and the relationship with clinical stage. Methods 112 initially-diagnosed patients with MM and 80 healthy people were respectively as MM group and normal control group. The lev-els of blood lipid before chemotherapy in two groups and MM patients with different clinical stages as well as the levels before and after chemotherapy were compared.Triglyceride (TG),total choles-terol (TC),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)were included. Results Before chemotherapy, the levels of TC,HDL-C and LDL-C in MM group were significantly lower than that in normal control group, but the difference was not significant compared with TG levels. The levels of TC,HDL-C and LDL-C in phase Ⅲ and LDL-C in phase Ⅱ were all significantly lower than that in normal control group, and the difference was not significant compared with the levels of blood lipid in phase Ⅰ.After 2 courses of chemotherapy, the levels of TC and HDL-C in effectively treated patients were obviously higher than that before chemotherapy. Conclusion The level of blood lipid is helpful to diagnose patients with MM and to evaluate the clinical staging and prognosis.
