Abstract: The content and methods of macroscopic physical signs collected from rats were discussed from three aspects, including the information obtained by TCM four diagnostic methods based on the characterization of the appearance such as body, activities, skin and fur, eyes, tail, paw, nail, lips, urine and stool; the changes of value and imagines obtained by using some instruments such as body temperature, electrocardiogram and electrophysiology reflecting the macroscopic physical signs; the evaluation of the macroscopic physical signs based on methodology including methods of quantification and semi-quantification. The train of thought and methods were found out to review the macroscopic physical signs of animal model through the observation and collection of these signs.
