Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression of lysyl oxidase (LOX) in salivary pleomorphic adenoma. Methods The tissue samples were divided into two groups.Twenty samples of salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma tissues and twenty samples of normal parotid gland tissues adjacent to the pleomorphic adenoma were collected. The LOX gene mRNA expression was detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Real-time PCR,and the alteration of expression was analysed. The LOX protein expression was then examined by western blotting. Results The salivary gland pleomorphic adenomatissue expressed more LOX gene mRNA and protein than normal salivary gland tissue. Conclusions LOX gene and protein may play a role in the tumorigenesis of salivary pleomorphic adenoma.
