Abstract:
Azithromycin is one of macrolide antibioticsis with potent anti-bacterial activity.However, the cardiac toxicity is being gradually in-creased , which mainly consists of cardiac arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.In 2013 , the United States FDA warned that azithromycin may in-crease the risk of cardiovascular death , which has caused widespread concern world widely.This article reviewed the clinical application of azithromycin , the proarrythmic case report , the underlying mechanism of arrhythmia, prevention and treatment of arrhythmia induced by azithro-mycin.The article might provide a literature foundation for clinical prac-tice and underlying proarrythmic mechanism study of azithromycin.
