Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationship between serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 level and insulin secretion in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Methods A total of 96 type 2 diabetes patients were selected as the treatment group and 96 healthy volunteers as the control group. The 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 levels in 2 groups were compared with the main clinical indicators. And the correlation between 25-hydroxy vita-min D3 levels and body mass index, glycosylated hemoglobin, islet βcell function index, islet resistance index, fasting insulin and peak ratio were analyzed. Results The serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 levels in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P <0.05 ) .Fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, fasting insulin, islet βcell function index, peak ratio and islet resis-tance index were significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group ( P<0.05 ) .Serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 level wsa nega-tively correlated with body mass index, glycosylated hemoglobin and islet resistance index (P<0.05), while it was positively correlated with the isletβcell function index and peak ratio(P<0.05).Conclusion There is a lack of vitamin D in type 2 diabetes patients, which may be one of the rea-sons leading to the decrease of insulin secretion in type 2 diabetic patients.
