Abstract:
Liver X receptor is a ligand -activated transcription factor of nuclear receptor super family .It played a key role in the regulation of lipid metabolism. In the past decade , numerous studies show that liver X receptor are involved in a series of physiological processes such as meta-bolism and inflammation by activating or inhibiting its target genes that are so closely linked with cardiovascular diseases .In recent years, a large number of studies have shown that liver X receptor are increasingly prominent in fighting against atherosclerosis . In this paper , we will review the targets of the LXR pathways on the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
