Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of agmatine on aqua-porin 4 ( AQP4) and aquaporin 9 ( AQP9 ) expression after oxygen glu-cose deprivation-reperfusion injury in U251 cells.Methods The mor-phologic change of U251 cells was observed by inverted microscope.The viability of U251 cells were examined by MTT assay.Also, the expres-sion of AQP4 and AQP9 were detected by western blot analysis.Results After agmatine treatment, the morphous of U251 cells were improved and the viability of U251 cells were obviously increased.While the expression of AQP4 and AQP9 were decreased by agmatine treatment.Conclusion The protective effect of agmatine on neuron from ischemia-reperfusion injury is related to the inhibitory of AQP4 and AQP9 overexpression, then the brain edema can be relieved by the agma-tine treatment.
