Abstract:
Objective To study the molecular mechanism of Chinese medicine Xiaoyao pills on antidepressant activity.Methods Synapsin mRNA expression and the effects of Xiaoyao pills on it in hippoeampus of chronic stress depression model were examned within situ hybridization and RT-PCR techniques.Results Expression of synapsin in the hippocam-pus of model rats were significantly increased,compared with that of the normal control(P<0.05);and the expression of synapsin were signifi-cantly decreased in the hippocampus of the fluoxetine and Xiaoyao pills groups compared with that of the model group(P<0.05).ConclusionThe expression of synapsin mRNA increase in the hippocampus of model rats,Xiaoyao pills can down-regulate their expression.
