- Abstract: The establishment of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology can be traced back to the foundation of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, then called the Philippine Medical School. Obstetrics was originally a separate department, whereas Gynecology was part of the Department of Surgery. This article highlights the Department's history, evolution, and fresh beginnings as it responds to the changing needs of the country.
