Abstract:
Objective To observe the changes of serum procalcitonin and KIM-1 and their significance for early diag-nosis of sepsis complicated with acute kidney injury (AKI). Methods A total of 54 children patients with sepsis who were admitted to PICU in the department of pediatrics in our hospital were allocated to AKI group with 30 patients and non-AKI group with 24 patients according to the diagnostic criterion of AKI; 24 healthy children were selected as a control group. Serum procalcitonin and urine KIM-1 were measured in the three groups. Results Levels of serum pro-calcitonin and urine KIM-1 in patients among the healthy group, non-AKI group and AKI group showed significant differences. Conclusion Serum procalcitonin and urine KIM-1 can be used as early diagnostic markers for children sepsis complicated with acute kidney injury.
