Abstract:
More and more evidences point to the involvement of neural cell senescence in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. However, previous studies mostly focus on neuronal senescence. In recent years, transcriptomics and epigenetic studies have found that gene expression patterns of senescence astrocyte have changed significantly, suggesting that they play an important role in neurodegenerative diseases. This review focuses on astrocyte senescence and its effect on neurodegenerative diseases in order to provide new direction for the mechanism research of astrocyte senescence and neurodegenerative diseases and new target for drug therapy in the future.
