Abstract:
Multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) infections not only prolong length of hospital stay and increase medical costs, but also elevate mortality risk of patients. Compared to other wards, patients in intensive care unit (ICU) are more susceptible to MDRO infections and linked to poorer prognosis. Therefore, predicting and preventing MDRO infections among ICU patients are crucial. This article reviews risk factors for MDRO infections and the progress of prediction models among ICU inpatients, aiming to provide references for constructing MDRO risk prediction models with higher reliability and practicality for clinical application.
