Abstract: Hypothyroidism (HT) can arise as a complication of radiotherapy for breast cancer. Despite having a significant impact on patients′ quality of life, HT had always been overlooked by radiotherapists in the past. In recent years, many studies highlighting the protection of the thyroid in the process of radiotherapy for breast cancer have been conducted, achieving valuable conclusion. These studies can serve as a guide for radiotherapists to limit the dose to the thyroid during radiotherapy, thus reducing the incidence of HT.
