Abstract: Diabetic retinopathy(DR)is a neurovascular unit lesion caused by diabetes mellitus,the incidence of which has increased significantly with the increase of the diabetic population.Therefore,it is important to use a reasonable animal model to explore the pathogenesis and therapeutic targets of DR.The db/db mouse is a relatively mature animal model of spontaneous type 2 diabetes and is therefore widely used in early prevention and treatment studies of type 2 DR.This paper describes the progress of db/db mouse model in exploring the pathogenesis of DR and the pharmacological research of Chinese and Western medicine,in order to provide a certain reference for the research of DR and drug development.
