1.Hepatoprotective effect of Lingzhi extract on CCl4-induced hepatic lesion
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2005;10(3):88-92
Study on hepatoprotective effects of lingzhi extract on CCl4-induced hepatic lesion, lingzhi formulation produced by OPC Company which reached standards at basic level. Lingzhi dry powder was prepared with distilled water to make liquid extract with concentrations of 15% (15g dry extract/100ml water), 30% and 75%. These liquid extracts were used to test hepatoprotective effects. With low dose CCl4 (0,25%) induced hepatic toxication, 15%, 30% and 75% lingzhi extracts showed hepatoprotective effect. However, with high dose CCl4 (1%), only 30% lingzhi extract showed clear and stable hepatoprotective effects. Experimental trials on hepatic diseases as well as on hepatoprotective medications should provide necessary information on physiopathological characteristics and medicinal therapies

Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, a common Chinese medicinal in clinic, should undergo "sweating" process in producing area according to Chinese Pharmacopoeia, which affects its genuineness and quality. In light of the concept and research mode of quality marker(Q-marker) for decoction pieces, the active components of Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex pieces which altered significantly before and after "sweating" were identified in this study. The main pharmacodynamic material basis was clarified by pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic and drug property research, followed by the prediction of Q-markers of Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex before and after "sweating", for better improving its quality standard.

4.Elaboration of protocol in dosage of ferulic acid in Radix angelicae sinensis by HPLC
Pharmaceutical Journal 2005;348(4):21-24
The extracted and purified ferulic acid residue from Radix angelicae sinensis was quantified by an established HPLC system composed of the following conditions: reversed phase column C-18 Purosphere 4.6mm 1D x 250 mm (5mm); mobile phase: acetonitrile/potassium dihydrophosphate 10 mM/L (15/85); pH: 4.5; flow rate: 1.2 mL/min; column temperature: 30oC. The results showed that the method can meet the following criteria: Rs > 1.5, RSD < 2%, N > 1 000, Tf in the range 0.8-1.2

5.Review on recent development of antitumor agents from Chinese herbal medicines
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2005;10(2):35-40
Besides low molecular compounds against morphological and cytotoxic change that were extracted from Chinese herbal medicines, some high molecular compounds have been extracted and used for treatment of malignant disease. Among which, polysaccharides and ribosome-inactivating proteins are specially noticed. Polysaccharides from fungal and high-class plants with immunostimulation effects have been tested in experimentation and in clinical. Ribosome-inactivating proteins are a group of proteins inhibited standard protein synthesis in nucleus by attacking 28S ribosome RNA. These substances have been tested in experimental and clinical trials for treating tumor by single compound and combined with antibodies

This paper put forward a more accurate identification method for identification of Chinese materia medica (CMM), the systematic identification of Chinese materia medica (SICMM) , which might solve difficulties in CMM identification used the ordinary traditional ways. Concepts, mechanisms and methods of SICMM were systematically introduced and possibility was proved by experiments. The establishment of SICMM will solve problems in identification of Chinese materia medica not only in phenotypic characters like the mnorphous, microstructure, chemical constituents, but also further discovery evolution and classification of species, subspecies and population in medical plants. The establishment of SICMM will improve the development of identification of CMM and create a more extensive study space.

To combine fingerprint and drug release rate in vitro, in order to study in vitro release of complex components of Chuanping sustained tablets, compound traditional Chinese medicine preparation. A qualitative determination of the characteristic peaks of the compound preparations were conducted by the fingerprint. The results of the dissolution rate determination under different release conditions showed that the release of three index components (methamphetamine, pseudoephedrine and scopolamine) of Chuanping sustained tablets was less affected by gastrointestinal factors, with similarity factors being more than 80 with unknown component release curves of three major characteristic peaks in the fingerprint. The qualitative determination proved that multiple components of the compound traditional Chinese medicine preparation was dissolved in vitro at similar rates, realizing the balanced release of complex components of the compound traditional Chinese medicine preparation. This study layed a theoretical and experimental basis for quality evaluation for the compound traditional Chinese medicine preparation.

The enzymes CYP1 A2 and CYP3 A4 were measured by building a "Cocktail" probe drug and the incubation system of liver microsomes. The compatibility of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata combined with dried Rehmanniae Radix on CYP450 enzyme protein and gene expression was explored from the level of protein and molecular biology. It explored the molecular mechanism of compatibility detoxication of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata to provide scientific support for clinical safe and effective application of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata. The CYP450 enzyme activity was determined by using "Cocktail" probe drugs. The content of CYP450 enzyme was measured by CO reduction of differential spectrum method. The mRNA expression of CYP1 A2 and CYP3 A4 enzyme was detected by RT-PCR technology. Compared with the blank group, the CYP1 A2 and CYP3 A4 enzyme activity and mRNA expression were increased in the dried Rehmanniae Radix combined with Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata group with significant differences(P<0.05), while the CYP3 A4 enzyme activity and mRNA expression were no influence in the Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata group. The CYP3 A4 enzyme activity and mRNA expression were increased in the dried Rehmanniae Radix and the dried Rehmanniae Radix combined with Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata group, and there were significant differences(P<0.05). The content of CYP450 enzyme was decreased in the Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata group, contributed to extremely significant difference(P<0.01). The content of CYP450 enzyme was increased in the dried Rehmanniae Radix and the dried Rehmanniae Radix combined with Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata group, and there were significant differences(P<0.05). The CYP1 A2 and CYP3 A4 enzyme activity and gene expression were enhanced after dried Rehmanniae Radix combined with Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata. The metabolism of toxic ingredients of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata was accelerated to reach an effect of detoxication. The detoxication mechanism of compatibility of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata was verified from the viewpoint of liver metabolic enzymes.
